THOUGHTS
FREEDOM in the New Testament, is a most interesting word. Here, we can
take freedom and use it selfishly and ruin the whole idea! “Love, and a
walking by the Spirit” are to chase away the desires of the flesh that cause us
to stumble. The flesh and the Spirit/spirit are at odds with each
other! It says we “may not do the things that we please.” Of Moses
it is said “choosing rather to endure ill-treatment with the people of God than
to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin,” Heb 11:25. So our “take
aways” today are LOVE and WALK by the SPIRIT. Look UP to a closer
walk with God through Christ Jesus, and look OUT, as you love your
neighbor/brother as yourself!
Gal 5:13-18 For you were called to freedom, brethren;
only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through
love serve one another. 14 For the whole Law is fulfilled in
one word, in the statement, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS
YOURSELF." 15 But if you bite and devour one another, take care
that you are not consumed by one another. 16 But I say, walk by the
Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. 17 For the
flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for
these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that
you please. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the
Law.
Rom 8:13-14 for if you are living according to the flesh,
you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the
body, you will live. 14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of
God, these are sons of God.
My Prayer:
Lord God, from all of Your platforms of learning, teach us to love and to walk
in the Spirit. Keep us from double-mindedness and help us to seek a full
maturity in You. We want to be Your sons and daughters. Bless our
day as we lift up Your name in our lives. It’s in
Jesus, Amen
